Mass at Saint-Pierre-Ville church

In the Catholic liturgy, the rite of Mass according to the Missal of John XXIII refers to the liturgy as codified following the Council of Trent and used by most of the Latin Church until the liturgical reform carried out by Paul VI in the late 1960s, in the context of the Second Vatican Council. In his motu proprio Summorum Pontificum of July 2007, Pope Benedict XVI authorised the continued celebration of this form of the liturgy, which includes changes introduced by Pope John XXIII.
